Coupled with the smooth vocals of Octavian, this a record crafted perfectly for those lazy Sunday summer vibes…
Since ‘Move Me’ dropped in June and earned the young Alex Crossan – who goes by the stage name Mura Masa – his debut as World Record on Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 on Apple music show, we have been digging the chill, laid-back and characteristically hip hop/grime infused electronic beat that the 22-year-old Crossan has made his staple.
The video for ‘Move Me’ is the latest collaboration with director Yoni Lappin: the pair have developed a close relationship and shared vision which, in this instalment, has coalesced to create a music video which brilliantly mirrors the seductive nature of the music while complimenting the moody, but silky, tones which Octavian exhales with effortless aplomb.
Masa described the finished product as: “Essentially a hood video made for Cannes”, adding that: “We shut down a whole street, invited Octavian’s friends down and captured the moment.” The shoot has a cinematic quality with its bold and gold movie-style credits and rotating camera angles which capture a London neighbourhood block party with Octavian holding court on the bonnet of a jeep.
This track will be a definitive addition to the soundtrack for the summer throughout Europe, as Masa delights crowds with his already diverse repertoire at a plethora of festivals this season. Masa will be playing LoveBox Festival at Gunnersbury Park in London on 13th July.
